Mastering Personal Peak Performance 29-30th May2006

What personality type are you?

I attended a 2-days course on MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator). This is an interesting personality test developed by Isabel Myers and Katherine Briggs.
MBTI offers an affirmative way to look at ourselves and to evaluate strengths and needed areas for improvement, helps to understand personality differences in others and use them costructively, in term of organizational benefits, it helps to become aware of the different personality and reduce conflict through appreciation of differences, know how to manage and deal with subordinate based on their personalities, facilitates team building...etc.

There are 4 main psychological type function, with 16 types of personality combination (so-called 16 rooms):
1. Where we get out our energy -> Extraversion or Introversion
2. How we take in information -> Sensing or Intuition
3. How we make decision -> Thinking or Feeling
4. How we like to live our lives -> Judging or Perceiving

After understanding these 4 main psychological type function, we futher explored the Keirsey Temperaments where the 2 letter temperaments combinations give the behavioral predictions with accuracy:
Guardian - SJ (loyal to system, responsibility, decisive, orderly..)
Artisan - SP (enjoys the moments, spontaneous, action oriented, needs freedom and spaces..)
Idealist - NF (Sympathetics, interpersonal skills, relationships..)
Rational - NT (Knowledge, non-conformist, enjoys complexity..)

And finally, we studies the interaction styles among people with different personality and how do we re-act or understand more on the team work among these people. Knowing our interaction style helps us locate interpersonal conflicts and situational energy drains. There are 4 main interaction styles with people who are:
In-Charge, Chart-the-course, Get-Things-Going, Behind the Scene.

So, What personality I have?
First, we did a set of test to determine our personality, then there were many fun group works. At last, mine turned out to be ESTP (Extraverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving) -click for details
SP- Artisan and I am under the group who prefers "In-Charge"

Briefly according the Chalis, the presenter, ESTP is outgoing, live for the moments, good in negotiating which will be good in sales work... oh no, i thought of this long time ago, but I am still not in any sales line at this moment, shouldn't I have a try too? :) heheheee
