Tioman Island 3D2N May2008

Had a boat fishing trip to Tioman Island, east south of Peninsular Malaysia with some of my colleagues and suppliers. And we stayed at Mukut village, south of the island. It is quieter as per compared to the North part of the island, where the tourist sites are located. This was my first time to Tioman Island.

5 cars departed to Mersing Jetty from KL at midnight. It took about 4hours+ to reach Mersing in the very early morning to catch the early boat into Tioman Island, it was due to holiday season, and because of this, we were arranged to take the morning boat, and the boat ride took about an hour to reach Mukut Village jetty.

When the boat approaching the first jetty, this is the landmark we see at Mukut - The Twin Peaks!

After a rest and some were busy preparing the fishing "gears", around 10 of us started our 1st day boat fishing trip, while the others just relax at the island.
The weather was considered quite nice, not strong current and near to late afternoon, the sun was not that hot as well. Luckily! So that I won't get sun-burnt :)

I am not a fishing "kaki", and I don't know much about fishing. But, I was given the chance to "take care" a electric-motor rod. So easy to use, just press the button to let go or pull back the fishing string ;) It was so enjoyable and a great experience for me

and there are some gains for the day...

and interesting people, acts on boat...

On day 2, the current seems to be so strong... and so lucky that I didn't go on boat fishing, but went to Marine Park and snorkelling by speed boat. It took around an hour by speed boat from Mukut to the Tioman Marine Park and the Duty free jetty. Again, alike Langkawi, beers andliquors damn cheap there. hehe.

Those went out for sea-fishing finished their fishing trip extremely fast this day due to the strong current, many of them felt un-easy and some even vomitted.

Afternoon, I just enjoyed my time reading, photographing & sleeping! at the chalet beach side, while others trekked to the Mukut Waterfall (about an hour)
Evening, we had BBQ dinner prepared by Zamros and Aisha (she is a Singaporean Chinese married to Zamros and stay in the island and Mersing, a great and friendly lady-boss)

See the giant and delicious fresh seafood... crabs, prawns, lobsters, clay fishes...and pelanduk

Day 3 After breakfast, we said byebye to Aisha and left Mukut Village....

It was a re-freshing and relaxing trip back to beach or water sport activities. Am looking forward for the next beach activity trip
